Today, we’re pleased to share an exciting milestone in our shared mission to build a safer, more sustainable, and more circular energy future.

Nearly three decades ago, Call2Recycle was established with a clear and focused goal: to provide a safe, compliant way for consumers to recycle rechargeable batteries. At a time when battery recycling infrastructure was limited and awareness was still emerging, the program helped lay the foundation for responsible battery stewardship in North America.

Over the years, that foundation grew. What began as a pioneering collection program expanded into a trusted national system—one that connects consumers, retailers, manufacturers, municipalities, and recyclers through a single, coordinated network. Along the way, the scope of batteries in use changed dramatically, as did the role they play in everyday life.

Today, batteries power far more than personal electronics. They support mobility, energy storage, and the technologies driving electrification across industries. As battery types, volumes, and applications have evolved, so too has the system needed to manage them safely and responsibly.

Building on the values that made Call2Recycle the most trusted battery recycling organization in North America, we are evolving our name to The Battery Network—a name that better reflects the scale of the system we’ve built together and the impact we are poised to make in the years ahead.

This change is more than a new visual identity. It marks an evolution of purpose. With the partnership of manufacturers, retailers, municipalities, and recyclers, we’ve grown into a modern, connected ecosystem designed to keep valuable materials in circulation, reduce fire risks in local communities, and support a more secure and sustainable energy future for North America.

The Battery Network represents who we are today: a nationwide system built on safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship—one that continues to adapt as the energy landscape evolves. Being entrusted with this stewardship is both an honor and a responsibility that requires a continued focus on long-term sustainability and continuous improvement.

As the world accelerates toward electrification — from e-bikes and power tools to electric vehicles and grid-scale storage — responsible battery management has never been more important. This new name positions us to meet that moment with clarity, leadership, and purpose, while continuing to serve as a trusted steward within a rapidly changing environment.

While our name is changing, our commitment is not. We remain the same trusted partner, guided by the same values and delivering the same high standards of safety, compliance, logistics, and innovation our partners expect. The Battery Network simply gives us language that better reflects the scale and sophistication of the work we do together.

Beginning January 13, 2026, you’ll see The Battery Network reflected across our website, materials, and partner communications. We will continue working closely with our partners throughout the transition to ensure a smooth and seamless rollout.

Thank you for your continued collaboration, leadership, and stewardship of responsible battery management. Together, we are leading the charge.

About the name: The Battery Network

The name The Battery Network reflects the role we play in today’s energy ecosystem.

What began as a battery collection program has evolved into a nationwide system that connects consumers, retailers, manufacturers, municipalities, and recyclers through one trusted network. Our work spans the full lifecycle of batteries—from safe collection and transportation to responsible end-of-life management.

As battery use expands, the systems required to manage them must be connected, scalable, and built for safety. The Battery Network captures that reality: a coordinated ecosystem designed to reduce risk, keep valuable materials in circulation, and support a more sustainable energy future.

The name also signals continuity. While how we present ourselves is evolving, our mission, values, and commitments remain unchanged.
